The Spartel or Espartel Sill is one of the sills separating the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This threshold is the second shallowest seafloor pass between the Iberian Peninsula and Africa. It is located near the Gibraltar Strait and the Camarinal Sill, at , at an elevation of −300 m. The deep, salty and dense waters of the Mediterranean must climb to that depth when flowing towards the Atlantic. During World War II, the area was the scene of intense submarine combats, and several submarines rest in the surrounding seafloor. ==See also== *Spartel Bank *Gibraltar Strait *Saddle point 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Espartel Sill」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
